Proposal Defense: "Intersectional Identity and the Development of Kenya's Tech Sector"

Welcome all! I’ve been away from this open journal since I launched it a couple years ago, trying to get through all the things an anthropology grad student has to do to reach the point where they can conduct their data collection. That has included applying for funding; I have been fortunate enough to have been awarded a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education to conduct a years’ worth of data collection. Assuming my upcoming proposal defense goes smoothly, I will be departing for Nairobi on March 16th.

Inaugural Launch Post!

Today is the official launch of No Mud Huts: an open anthropological journal about Kenya’s tech industry!

I created this site as a part of MSU Anthropology Department’s Cultural Heritage Informatics Fellowship. Using this website I intend to contribute to the open science research movement as a part of my broader support for an open access approach to scientific publishing.
